I cannot forgive myself for something

On the difference between remorse that repairs and remorse that only punishes.

Allah, mighty and majestic, said: I am as My servant thinks of Me, and I am with him wherever he remembers Me. By Allah, Allah rejoices more at the repentance of His servant than one of you who finds his lost mount in the desert. Whoever draws near to Me a handspan, I draw near to him an arm's length; whoever draws near to Me an arm's length, I draw near to him a fathom; and if he comes to Me walking, I come to him at speed.Translated by Uswah draft, awaiting review

Remorse that changes what you do next is doing its work. Remorse that only replays the scene is a habit wearing the clothes of repentance.

What to doName the repair, however partial, and do that instead of remembering again.
